Families in Transition
COURSE DESCRIPTION
When a transgender family member transitions, all family members transition.  However, barriers are often created to involving families in treatment to support their own growth process.  These barriers are created by clients, by the family members themselves, by service providers, and by society.  When barriers are overcome and the family process is addressed, the family often experiences higher rates of connection and resiliency, and can prevent relational trauma.  The training presents the cisgender identity development model, the qualities and signs of each stage, and provides targeted interventions that work best at each stage, maximizing growth potential and validating family experiences.  Training will also cover complex family cases.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
