American Justice Film Series: Echoes of Incarceration
Examining the collateral consequences of mass incarceration, this program will focus on families separated by the justice system. Echoes of Incarceration is an award-winning documentary initiative produced by youth with incarcerated parents. The project explores the issue of mass incarceration and its effects on families, and creates documentary films told from the life experiences of the filmmakers themselves. There will be a panel discussion following screenings of select short documentary films featuring the filmmakers themselves.
What happens when we get tough on crime? Who is the enemy in a war on drugs? What does securing our borders really mean?
American Justice explores the ideologies and realities of the criminal justice system in the U.S. The occasional series of film screenings and panels focuses on the voices of those most affected by our move to mass incarceration and the criminalization of the poor and immigrants.
