POETS OF THE CARIBBEAN: Water off a duck's back

What started as a themed house party right near the heart of Washington DC, has morphed and grown into a special event with the soul of the original intention. Having joined forces with the Reno/Tahoe area's longest standing open mic and best spoken word organization (Spoken Views Collective), as well as the entire creative team at The Bruka Theatre in the heart of the Biggest Little City, we are proud to present the next installment in the series. The evening represents an encouragement to poets, musicians, dramatists, pirates, spoken word artists and the like to touch stage. There will be Set Performers as well as a splash of open mic slots. Audience participation is encouraged by supporting throughout and voting at the end of the evening. Unique photo opps. and raffle prizes will add to the experience. The next installment in the special event series will consist of set performers and a splash of open mic slots. Poets, musicians, seafarers, pirates, dramatists, storytellers, and the like will touch stage and hearts to show how much words matter and shape our existence. This one night only special engagement is produced by Bruka Theatre, in creative collaboration with Spoken Views Collective. This installment in the series will emphasize thoughts and feelings surrounding the saying "like water off a duck's back". How do we remain resilient in the face of conflict and adversity? How are we able to shed attempts at harm with words and actions? How can we persevere with grace, humor, social commentary, craft, flow, style, and the power of storytelling?
