Athenian Press & Workshops Presents Poetry As Protest Fundraiser
On behalf of Athenian Press and Workshops, award-winning slam poet Kelly Rae Williams brings her experience as a master word-slayer and social activist for an exclusive workshop during the local Couplet Poetry Festival at Old Books on Front Street. The workshop will include a short lecture and lessons by Kelly Rae aimed to teach poets of all levels how to use their words to evoke change. We will answer questions such as the following: How can a poet use language to evoke activitism? How can we use the writers pen to craft change? What writing tools can we use to inspire others? In addition, Kelly Rae will share research from her graduate thesis, which analyzes how the nation of words and literature can be used to shift the racial and political climate and to start a revolution in a community
