Lila Nelson

Former Humboldt resident and KHUM DJ Lila Nelson returns from a year abroad in Italy to perform at the Arcata Playhouse on Saturday, April 15. Nelson has been working her craft for over 15 years and is beloved for her poignant songs and clever stage banter. She hosted Meet Me in the Morning Sundays on KHUM for years, then, in 2009, relocated to Oakland. She recorded her most recent album, The Fret & The Fray in Portland, Ore. with producer Sebastian Rogers (Catherine Feeny, Come Gather Round Us) and toured the album with her band, The Job. Other recordings include collaborations with Mike Dronkers, Kenny Edwards and Freddy Koella. In 2012, Nelson gave birth to her greatest work, Viva Caliendo. Shell be playing solo at the Playhouse, sharing material new and old, troubadour style. Opening the show is Lila's sister, Siena Nelson, another local favorite and Renaissance woman recently featured in Women of the Northwest.
