Tango Meets String Quartet
The Musical Offering welcomes Paris-based bandoneon artist Sebastien Innocenti as he takes us on a journey of musical discovery to combine the music of the tango with the sound of the traditional string quartet. The bandoneon is a type of concertina particularly popular in South America and in Europe, especially Lithuania.

The evening will include works by Astor Piazzola and Gustavo Beytelmann that were explicitly written for string quartet and bandoneon. Sebastien Innocenti's virtuosic and passionate bandoneon mastery will bring you the heat of Argentinian tango as he and the Chicago-based Innocenti String Quartet - led by Sebastiens brother Pascal Innocenti - collaborate to present this special concert event at the Musical Offering

The MO's intimate Madison Room provides the ideal acoustically-rich setting to enjoy this performance.

About the performers:

Sebastien Innocenti
Bandoneon & Accordion

Sebastien has become a proven catalyst toward a new trajectory for tango music by working with composers such as Gustavo Beytelmann, Ramiro Gallo, or Roger Hellou and Tomas Gubitsch. He began his classical training on accordion (Bayan) in the study of Christiane Bonnay. In 2006 in Paris he earned the Prize of the President of the Republic Classic soloist category. In 2007 he graduated with a Diploma in electroacoustic composition under the tutelage of Mario Marry. Innocenti was unanimously accepted at the After entering the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris to study with Max Bonnay, Sébastien also studied bandoneon with Juan Jo Mosalini Gennevilliers.

A chamber musician as well, Sebastien performs with the Respiro Tango Quintet and Quartet of Susana Blaszko. He has performed with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, the Orchestra of the nice Opera, the Paris Opera Orchestra and the Orchestra soloists of Versailles. Sebastien seeks to discover the richness of his instrument, performing a repertoire ranging from Baroque transcription works (Bach, Rameau) to the modern literature of tango (Beytelmann, Gubitsch, Mosalini). Sébastien was aided in his study of tango by pianist and Argentine composer Gustavo Beytelmann, and by attending master classes and tango workshops in France and abroad.
