Living with Hope
Living with Hope features two short plays about the cycle of addiction.
Other People's Kids by Mabelle Reynoso is a play created from the real life experiences of San Diegans whose lives have been impacted by meth addiction.
Four teenagers become entangled with meth and their lives and families are changed forever. Gaby, pregnant and on parole for drug use, tries to start over; Her boyfriend Jesse feels pressured to provide for his future family; Mackenzie is focused on getting into an Ivy League college; while, Sammy shoots up in the alley. Other Peoples Kids depicts the struggles of meth addiction with a message of hope.
Finding Our Way, written by incarcerated playwrights at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, explores the journey of addiction from first time use to recovery.
Living with Hope is produced by Playwrights Project and SDSU's School of Theatre, Film and Television. Directed by Peter Cirino and performed by SDSU Theatre students. Each performance will be followed by a talk back with a panel of experts. Recommended for ages 16+; this event is free and open to the public, however reservations are required.
