COURSE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: These common questions about roofing warranties and insurance will get answered.
(1) If my roof is designed for a 145 mph wind speed, why does manufacturer not want to write a warranty for more than 74 mph?
(2) Isnt a warranty just an insurance policy? How much more will better warranty cost?
(3) Is it worth it to pay for an enhanced roof warranty or is money better spent on quality material, careful installation and expert oversight?
(4) Who pays for roofing damage below warranted wind speed? Above warranted wind speed?"
(5) Does insurer place limitations or restrictions on Owner, such as maintenance requirements, in order to keep insurance in force?
(6) Will property insurer give Owner a discount for a better roof warranty?
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
(1) Participants will be able to evaluate roofing manufacturers standard warranties, including limitations and restrictions.
(2) Participants will be able to advise clients of enhancements to standard warranties that will give property Owners more protection.
(3) Participants will be able to verify roofing design for local wind conditions and understand the relationship between the design wind speed and the warranted wind speed.
(4) Participants will understand how property insurance and warranties can work together to manage risk in roofing failures, particularly in high wind situations.
