Tuesday 2/21 - 11:30 to 12:30 pm: Marine Life Exploration - Touch tank, sketching, and fish printing.

Join us for a touch tank activity where you will get up close and personal with different marine species that call Shinnecock Bay home. Students will learn about the biology and behavior of these species and their importance to our local ecosystem.  Following this we will sketch our favorite species and practice the art of fish-printing to create a work of art on a reusable tote bag!

Wednesday 2/22 - 11:30 to 12:30 pm:: Shorebirds of Long Island  Shorebird Identification, egg demonstration, and puppet-making

Join us for a lesson on shorebirds found on Long Island. We will begin with learning about some commonly seen species, followed by a lesson on egg camouflage. Following this we will create unique shorebird puppets.

Thursday 2/23 - 11:30 to 12:30 pm:: The Salt Marsh - Animal ID cards, mural game, field ID book

During this program students will learn about local species that live in our marshes. Following this they will take part in an interactive activity requiring the students to place each species in the proper habitat on our coastal landscape mural. We will also create our own field ID books which students can use to identify local marsh species.

Friday 2/24 - 11:30 to 12:30 pm:: Bivalves in our Bays - Shell sorting, touch tank, photo craft

Examine and explore live shellfish and learn how to identify their differences. Help sort shells of these species into the correct bins that represent their habitats. Finally, students will have an opportunity to pose for a photo holding their favorite bivalve and create a special frame to take it home in.
