Welcome to Seattle's March Is Cabaret Month Festival 2017!

MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents:
LINDA KOSUT in "FROM THE STANDARD TO THE OBSCURE"

Bistro Award-winning jazz singer Linda Kosut sings a repertoire from the standard to the obscure. With her warm voice and engaging style, Kosut brings her skills as an actress to her insightful interpretations of songs underscored with a fusion of jazz, pop and folk. With Linda's longtime musical director Dave Austin.

LINDA KOSUT

Award-winning cabaret/jazz singer Linda Kosut sings the standard with a fresh look and makes the obscure seem like a standard. She performs nationally from San Francisco to NY to LA to Seattle, and also works as a singer's coach teaching performance technique. Linda's newest release "Easy Come Easy Go: The Music of Johnny Green" received rave reviews ("Wonderfully winsome" - Doug Boynton, GirlSingers). Her first two CDs, "Life Is But A Dream" and "Long As You're Living", received national acclaim. Linda lives in San Francisco with her husband, two dogs, two turtles, two chickens and thousands of freshwater fish!

MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents:
JOHN ENGERMAN & MICHAEL KING in "TOM LEHRER: A PROPHET BEFORE HIS TIME"

Tom Lehrer, known for such irreverent songs as "Poisoning Pigeons In The Park" and "Vatican Rag", was a political satirist with a biting wit - and a prophet of foibles we seem to be experiencing all over again. In the spirit of Lehrer's original delivery - a couple of guys and a piano - John Engerman and Michael King present a set of his most relevant songs, occasionally updated to reflect the current political climate change.

JOHN ENGERMAN

John has been writing, arranging, music directing and playing for theatrical productions since the mid 70s.  As a composer, highlights include Ronnie Bwana  Jungle Guide, The Big Bad Wolf (and How He Got That Way), Ming the Rude (Empty Space Theatre), The Ballad of Mary Reade, (Bathhouse Theatre), and Prince Brat and the Whipping Boy (Seattle Childrens Theatre).  Cabaret shows featuring his arrangements of others tunes include The Fabulous Sateens, The Sirens of Swing, and numerous one-woman shows with his wife, Jayne Muirhead.

MICHAEL KING

Mike King represents clients before state and federal appellate courts, to which he has presented over 150 oral arguments  shows that run for just one performance.  Mike is also a member of Arne Zaslove's Hit & Run Theater Company.  His roles have included Francis Tasbrough in Sinclair Lewis's "It Can't Happen Here"; the Judge in Freddie Brinster's "Dark Farce"; Professor Willard in "Our Town"; and President Harry Truman in "In the Realm of Whispering Ghosts: If Truman Met Einstein."  Mike also appeared in Hit & Run's musical review of the songs of Tom Lehrer, "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park."

SHOWTIME: 7 pm. Doors at 6:00.
