COURSE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
It is an architects responsibility to understand their clients expectations / budget and to design the project within the defined budget. There are many costs associated with any building construction and all these costs must be taken into consideration. It is the clients responsibility to know the total project budget they are comfortable spending on their project. It is very important to set up conversations with the client early in the process to discuss the additional costs anticipated during a project including engineering fees and municipal costs for committee review / approvals, etc.
(1) Attendees will understand what are the most expensive costs in constructing buildings and other environments, including the influences of economics, environments, policy and politics.
(2) Attendees will gain knowledge about why there are litigation and law suits in the design and construction industries, including the effect of un-communicated ideas, the breakdown in communications during construction, and the responsibility associated with... <<<need more info>>>
(3) Attendees will understand what can be value designed at the respective stages of the design from concept through construction documents.
(4) Attendees will be introduced to some of the various tools, vehicles and processes to maintain a design within the owners budget.
