Lee Blessing's play examines the delicate relationship of three singular women: grandmother, Dorothea, who has sought to assert her independence through strong-willed eccentricity; her brilliant daughter, Artemis, who has fled the stifling domination of her mother; and Artie's daughter, Echo, a child of exceptional intellect and sensitivity. The women's lives are presented in fragmented vignettes as they struggle to define themselves as individuals and as a part of a family unit. This poignant study of familial relationships highlights the human need for connection and forgiveness.

SATE's performing ensemble includes Madeleine Steinau (Echo), Margeau Baue Steinau (Dorothea) and Rachel Tibbetts (Artemis). The production is directed by Ellie Schwetye.

The mission of Slightly Askew Theatre Ensemble is to encourage and enable an intense exploration of movement-based theatre through ongoing training, education, and collaboration.
