Perhaps the old saying "if you build it, they will come", rings true.

As you know, two years ago, the Punta Gorda Short Film Festival (PGSFF) was born and opened to a SOLD OUT/STANDING ROOM ONLY crowd. Last January, people were trying to buy tickets, even before they were printed, for the 2nd annual PGSFF which again sold out and sponsorships doubled! This year, we were getting requests for tickets in October!!!

The Charlotte Harbor Office of Film & Digital Media and Asbury Shorts/USA will present the 3rd annual Punta Gorda Short Film Festival. This special event, hosted by the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce (PGCC) returns to the Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center (Punta Gorda, FL.) on Wednesday, March 8, 2017.

We are so thrilled the community has embraced this event. If the laughter and non-stop applause are any indication, these shows were a SMASH HIT! stated, Nanette Leonard Executive Producer.

John Wright, President of the Punta Gorda Chamber of Commerce will be the MC, with Special Guest NBC-2 News Stacey Deffenbaugh. Director Doug LeClaire, created Asbury Shorts NY in 1981 to celebrate Independent short films. Nanette Leonard, a Punta Gorda resident with over 35 years of experience in the entertainment industry, serves as Executive Producer.

ASBURY SHORTS (AS/USA), now in its 36th season, is New York City's longest running concert of independently produced short films. The 90-minute program features selected Independent short films including Oscar nominated and "Best of Show" awardees from US and International film festivals. Academy Award nominated director Jason Reitman (JUNO, Up in the Air, Thank You for Smoking, Young Adult) calls Asbury Shorts: The best short film show Ive ever seen.
