Kenya Safari Acrobats & Arts Education Night
The Kenya Safari Acrobats offer a truly unique cultural experience. Hailing from the heart of Africa, this awe-inspiring and dynamic dance troupe takes acrobatics to exhilarating extremes. The group members learned acrobatics as children on the beaches of Kenya, as a means to break free from an impoverished country. Now they serve as artistic ambassadors for Kenya as they travel the globe, entertaining and inspiring audiences of all ages.
The Kenya Safari Acrobats perform a non-stop ride of gravity-defying human pyramids, balancing, tumbling, limbo dancing, hurling through hoops and breathtaking contortions, all while clapping to a joyful Benga beat. Combining artistry with humor and playfulness, these gymnasts are a huge crowd pleaser. A unique and eye-popping blend of traditional arts and circus skills in classic African style, this show will leave your audience on their feet and filled with a wondrous sense of awe and amazement.
The night celebrates Arts Education with an opening cultural performance by Methow Valley Elementary School students, who are working with local artist Bruce Morrison through the Methow Arts' Artist-in-Residence program. The Kenya Safari Acrobats will perform at six school districts through the Methow Arts program, reaching over 5, 000 students.
DATES: Sat, Oct 6, 7pm. TICKETS: $15/advance, $18/door, $5/students 5-18. Reserved seating available $10-$25. BrownPaperTickets.com, Methow Arts, Riverside Printing in Winthrop (CLOSED ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY) and the Daily Business in Twisp (OPEN UNTIL 2PM ON SATURDAY). Kids under 5 are free.
