Seacoast trumpeter Chris Klaxton returns to the Dance Hall with a brand new trio. Joined by familiar face, Scott Kiefner on bass (SOJOY, InEarsAndEyes), and Tim Gilmore on drums. Gilmore has been a mainstay of the New England jazz scene for decades. A member of Brownstone Recording Artists, the Harry Skoler Jazz Quartet and CCMS Musicians of Wall Street, Mr. Gilmore has performed with the Cape Ann Symphony, Symphony by the Sea, the Paul Madore Chorale and Boston Percussion Ensemble. He has also performed with Lester Bowie, Marion McPartland, Fred Hersch, Tower of Power, Tiger Okoshi and Warren Vache.

The trio will explore a landscape of jazz standards and the American Songbook, tethering the compositions by way of free improvisation. The trumpet / drums / bass instrumentation harkens back to the trio of Don Cherry, Ed Blackwell, and Charlie Haden, all Ornette Coleman alumni. Expect to hear a few tunes acknowledging this history!
