The Garden (gothic ethereal) formed in 1985, becoming known as Pittsburghs first goth band and opening for artists including And Also The Trees, Throwing Muses, Eva O, Wolfgang Press, Strange Boutique, and This Ascension. After signing to the German label Apollyon and releasing a full-length album in 1996, they received international critical acclaim. Due to career conflicts, they last performed together as The Garden in 2001. However, some of the members have always continued to work together, and in 2016, they find themselves with a desire to return to their roots at least for an evening. Lineup: Christine Sacramento Guitars Anthony LaCava Bass Stephen Marlette Voice Tanya Kavalkovich Violin James Perry Drums Approximate set time: 11 p.m.
Illusion of Joy (synthpop/darkwave) is the musical project of keyboardist, vocalist and songwriter Seth Warren. Formed in 2000 and based in Pittsburgh since 2003, IoJ is influenced by alternative 80s musicians such as The Cure, Public Image Ltd. and The Bolshoi. Shimmer will celebrate the release of IoJs fifth LP, A Stone Throw From a Glass House. The new album features additional vocals by Maresa Whitehead, who will make her Pittsburgh debut as a singer at this show. Approximate set time: 12:30 a.m.
Carol Blaze (shoegaze/dream pop/psychedelic) is the solo project of A.T. Vish, the former drummer for Pittsburgh dreampop band lowsunday. He regularly performs live and has provided studio work on recent recordings by members of The Garden. Approximate set time: 10:15 p.m.
Doors In The Labyrinth (ambient/darkwave) is the solo project of Josh Loughrey, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist. He has been performing since 2000 with many different projects, spanning noise, ambient, techno, rock, traditional folk, orchestral music and more. He has performed as a street musician and in a wide variety of venues. Doors In The Labyrinth began in 2014 as a way to combine all of his diverse styles and tastes into a single project. He has since released an album and two EPs and made numerous live appearances, including opening for one of his biggest influences, Goblin. Approximate set time: 9:30 p.m.
DJ Fortune (Michael Salo) was a founding member of The Night Shift DJ team and a resident of the club night Ceremony from 1997-2000. He currently lives in Brooklyn, and his last Pittsburgh appearance was an extremely well-received set at the Ceremony Reunion in 2014. As the founder of the mail order record label Strange Fortune, he has always had a special fondness for ethereal music, and cannot resist the chance to see a performance by one of his favorite bands, The Garden. Approximate set time: Between bands and until 2 a.m.
