CUDDLES

SATE celebrates its tenth year producing theatre in St. Louis with the Season of Adaptation. The season will examine the state of being adapted: what it means to change something; to become relevant to a new or special application or situation by both adapting previously known works into stage adaptions and by exploring themes within scripted plays that deal with characters adapting to some kind of environment.

For its second production of the Season of Adaptation, SATE will produce "Cuddles" by Joseph Wilde. Eve is a young vampire. Tabby is her sister. Tabby makes the rules. Eve has never left her room. All she knows about the world comes from Tabby and from Eve's storybook characters. Eve does everything a good little vampire girl should do; including drinking Tabby's blood when she has to. But one day, Tabby tires of opening her veins, her heart, and in a breath, Eve's world changes.

"Cuddles" is the debut play from Joseph Wilde. In 2011, it won the Capital Theatre Award for Best New Play. "Cuddles" was originally staged at Ovalhouse in 2013, toured the United Kingdom, and then moved to 59E59 Theatres in Manhattan in 2015; where it was awarded a New York Times Critic's Pick. In May 2016, Nicole Kidman and her Blossom Film production company optioned the rights to "Cuddles." Joseph Wilde will adapt the play for screen. SATE's production will be a St. Louis premier. "Cuddles" is produced by special arrangements in St. Louis, MO with Berlin Associates London.

SATE presents "Cuddles", November 2-12 (Wednesdays-Saturdays) at 8:00pm, at The Chapel, 6238 Alexander Drive.

SATE's performing ensemble includes Ellie Schwetye and Rachel Tibbetts. "Cuddles" will be directed by Joe Hanrahan. The stage manager is Kristin Rion. Lighting & set design by Bess Moynihan and costume design by Elizabeth Henning. Photography by Joey Rumpell and graphic design by Dottie Quick.
