October 5: How to Talk about Yourself and Your Artwork with Miriam Works
Artist Consultant Miriam Works will guide artists through their elevator speech and beyond so they know how to articulately talk about themselves and their artwork.
October 12: Building an Artist Website with Ryan Feddersen

In this 2-hour workshop, you will create a portfolio-based website that is simple to customize and easy to update! Artist and media professional Ryan Feddersen will walk you through the creation of a website using Squarespace, covering the basics and making room for personalization while you follow along. You will leave the workshop with a custom website with pages for standard content including a gallery, a news feed, and artist information. Websites will be mobile-friendly and will link with social media. There will even be an opportunity to purchase hosting or domain services from Squarespace directly!
This class is formatted for artists with little or no experience with web design who wish to create a straightforward and attractive website showcasing their work.
Participants should be computer literate and be able to bring:
-A Wi-Fi-capable laptop with an up-to-date browser (Chrome, Safari, or Firefox).
-Advanced preparation of your own content. After you register, we'll send a worksheet to get you started.
October 19: How to Be an Artist in the Age of Social Media with Natasha Marin SOLD OUT
Being an artist isn't just about making work anymore its about having something to say about yourself, your work, and the world. In this workshop led by Natasha Marin, writer, conceptual artist, and creator of the Reparations website, you'll discuss the components of a strong social media presence, the best platforms for your work and your message, and strategies for creating a compelling voice and then what to do when the trolls come trolling.
October 26: Writing Your Artist Statement with Michelle de la Vega
Artist statements are hard to write, but they are an important way of explaining who you are as an artist. In this workshop, led by multi-discipline artist and Artist Trust Fellowship recipient Michelle de la Vega, you'll look at examples of successful artist statements from artists of all disciplines and then revise your own. You'll leave with a solid draft of a statement to use when applying for grants and residencies and as part of your website or portfolio.
What to bring:
Please bring in the best draft of your artist statement and be ready to give and receive feedback.
