Get ready to Garba!

This year's second "Dance In The Round" happens just in time for Navraati (Nine Nights) season! Open to all levels, abilities, and gender expressions; ages 8 to 108.

Choreographer/dancer Parijat Desai will teach basic steps of Garba and Raas, circle dances from Gujarat, India that happen in Gujarati communities all over the world at this time of year. Fantastic tabla player Roshni Samlal will accompany.

Following each mini-lesson, we'll open up the floor for all to dance in the circle to non-stop garba tunes. And we'll finish up with Raas (yes, with sticks!).

If you're already a garba-rista or dandiya fiend, come show off your moves!

DITR will be held in beautiful, large Studio C at Mark Morris Dance Center, easily accessible via the BDQNR2345 subways.

NOTES: Comfortable, ideally loose, bottoms suggested. Long skirts and/or kurtas welcome, but not required. No shoes on dance floor. If your feet need support, please bring a pair of indoor shoes to wear in studio. Bring water.
