OPC: Grand Rounds Eating Disorders 101
Eating disorders are comprised of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder . They affect men and women as well as a wide range of ages. It is estimated that eating disorders are a daily struggle for 10 million females and 1 million males in the United States. Four out of ten individuals have either personally experienced an eating disorder or know someone who has suffered. During this one hour training, we will review the epidemiology of eating disorders, changes in the DSM 5 classifications/subtypes; appropriate screening tools, and current treatments. The course will address the comorbidities with other mental health disorders as well as discuss the challenges in treating eating disorders. Leading the presentation will be Associate Medical Director Qionna Tinney, MD, FAPA.
