Dinner with Editors: Washington Post
Writers,
Come meet editors from the Washington Post magazine!
Marcia Davis is a longtime journalist, the bulk of her career has been at the The Washington Post, where she started as a copy editor, though serving as an assignment editor for Metro, Style and National over the last two decades. In April 2016, she became an articles editor and writer for The Washington Post Magazine. She has been on the hunt for fresh, bold voices.
Annys Shin has been an editor with the Post magazine since Jan. 2015 after serving as a staff writer for a decade, first in the Local section and then in the business section. She came to the Post from the Washington City Paper! She has also worked at the National Journal and the Center for Public Integrity. We are excited to have her!
Come learn what an editor of the Washington Post looks for when considering pieces for the magazine and other sections. Hear what pieces they will accept and what kinds of pitches are necessary to get in through the door. Do they accept pieces for their blogs? What types of articles for the print edition? What does a newspaper editor or writer think of the growth in great personal essays available these days?
So many questions, so little time, but what a great opportunity for us all!
Note, this is the second dinner with editors we have had in 2 years, this might become an annual thing for us!
