Following their triumphant return to Orchestra Hall/Symphony Center, Chicago in spring 2015, the midwest's remarkable orchestra and chorus of lawyers and judges returns to St James Episcopal Cathedral (Wabash at Huron) for its 31st season of concerts to delight every music lover.

During 2016-17, three candidates audition for the post of Director of the CBA Chorus. Each will prepare music for the chorus to perform with the orchestra, as well as conducting the CBA Chorus in shorter choral selections. Audiences will be invited to share their impressions of each candidate as we seek to select the perfect person to lead the CBA Chorus into its second decade.

Marek Rachelski enjoys a rich variety in his musical life as conductor, pianist/harpsichordist and as collaborative artist in recital. He has appeared with orchestras in the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Canada and the USA. Mr. Rachelski has served on the faculties of Loyola University and De Paul University.

He is the Artistic Director of Musica Lumina Ensemble and Conductor/Founder of the Niles Metropolitan Chorus. In four seasons the NMC/ML has performed major works of the repertoire: Requiems of Mozart, Faure, Rutter; the Magnificats of Pärt, Bach and Pergolesi; Haydns Creation, Rossinis Stabat Mater, Mendelssohns Elijah, a yearly Handels Messiah, and the St. John Passion of J. S. Bach (scheduled for April 2, 2017).

Previously, as Music Director of Opera Las Vegas he conducted complete staged performances of Puccinis La Bohème, Donizettis L'elisir d'amore, Mollicones The Face on the Barroom Floor, a Puccini 150th Retrospective and accompanied numerous aria recitals. While in Nevada he was also the founder and conductor of the Las Vegas Peoples Valley Chorus.

A composer of over 100 works, Marek is published with World Library and M Gerard Publications. He was commissioned for a setting of Psalm 145 for the 1989 Papal Mass in Detroit and for a Magnificat by the Lira Singers for their 25th Anniversary.

Marek holds degrees from Northwestern University, Wayne State University and the Academy of Music in Prague HAMU.
