Building a World Free of Weapons of Mass Destruction
Paul Walker: Lessons Learned from the Abolition of Chemical Weapons

Paul Walker is International Program Director of the Environmental Security and Sustainability Program of Green Cross International and Global Green USA, founded by Mikhail Gorbachev.  Paul directs and manages both the international program and the Washington, D.C. office.

Paul is a former staff member of the U.S. House of Representatives Armed Services Committee. He was also acting director of the Peace and Conflict Studies Program at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester and research director with the Union of Concerned Scientists. An expert in international security, arms control, nonproliferation, and environmental policy for more than 25 years, Paul has lectured and published widely, most recently on the demilitarization of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), and has appeared on numerous TV and radio news and talk shows. He holds a Ph.D. in political science and defense studies from MIT, an M.A. from Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies, among other degrees. A Vietnam-era Army veteran, he received the Right Livelihood Award (or alternative Nobel Prize) in Stockholm in 2013 for working tirelessly to rid the world of chemical weapons.

George Breslauer: The Current State of US-Russian Relations

George W. Breslauer is Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, Emeritus, and Professor of the Graduate School in political science at the University of California at Berkeley.  Breslauer is the author of 12 books on Soviet and Russian politics and foreign relations, most recently Gorbachev and Yelsin as Leaders (2002).  He has spoken publicly to many groups about the nature of President Vladimir Putins leadership, the crisis in Russian-American relations, and the origins of the confrontation over Ukraine.  He was previously chancellors professor, chair of the department of political science, and dean of the social sciences division at Berkeley.   He currently serves as faculty director at the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.   Breslauer received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
