An Historic Finale: "From Swing to Bop, a Jazz History"
2016 Sonoma-Mendocino Coast Whale and Jazz Festival
Larry Vuckovich, piano; Josh Workman, guitar; Jeff Chambers, upright bass; Fred Adler, host.

Performance, historic film clips and commentary: From Swing to Bop, a Jazz HistoryFor the Love of Jazz.

A trio of well-known and brilliant veterans of the jazz scene, Larry Vuckovich; piano, Josh Workman; guitar, and Jeff Chambers; upright bass, will bring to life highlights of the evolving styles of influential legends of their instruments. Festival coordinator, Fred Adler, will act as host and narrator.

The evening will begin with a moving film clip of The Divine One, Sarah Vaughan, singing Misty in live performance. Then the concert will move to this revered songs composer, pianist Erroll Garner, playing Misty, live in Brussels.

Next, Larry Vuckovich will take center spotlight of the Coleman Hall stage, performing Garners masterpiece in the composers original gorgeous and rhapsodic style.

The unique concert will continue in this vein, including live music demonstrations, coupled with archival clips of varied sounds and styles throughout the decades. A special tribute to the Nat King Cole trio will also be featured, among other surprises.

The concert will even include Vuckovich performing as a much younger man along with some of the vocal greats of jazz history, from a vintage Chicago PBS television special.

This will be a Whale & Jazz evening not to be missed!

Tickets are $28 in advance, $5 more day of performance; youth 7  17 admitted free.
