Edible and Medicinal Plants of Magnuson Park
Level: Beginner

This class will be held at Magnuson Park, which holds a fantastically different array of plants from the typical PNW forest. English hawthorne and black cottonwood dominate this ex-military base, now federally protected wetland. The class will cover the major plants of this area, and cover medicinal and edible uses of them. We will especially discuss the harvest of hawthorn berries (harvested in October-November), cottonwood buds (January-February), and rose hips (August-December). If the patch of poison hemlock at Magnuson Park is still alive and well (which is likely), we will also get a chance to look at this famous poisonous plant and compare lookalikes (wild carrot, etc).

Tickets: $35 (Note: I limit the number of spaces in my classes so that they will be intimate and effective, so classes usually sell out.)

Location: Magnuson Park, Seattle, WA. We will meet in the northeast corner of parking lot E5, accessible from NE 65th Street.

Date and Time: July 16, 4:00-7:00pm  Please be on time so as not to miss the group departing from the parking lot.

TEACHER: Natalie is an herbalist and plant lover who teaches plant ID and herbal medicine workshops in the Seattle Area. It brings her joy to empower people to know the plants around them. Natalie also has a small clinical practice where she practices holistic Western herbalism.
