Faces of Ethiopia
The Drilling for Hope fourth annual fundraiser and gallery exhibit will be at 6 p.m. on June 9 at Spring Street Gallery: 110 Spring Street, Saratoga Springs NY. Like years past, there will be catered food and drinks by The Lily and The Rose, and a children's room full of activities that will educate and open young minds to life in Africa.
Each year, Karen Flewelling travels to Africa to provide remote communities much needed access to clean water, while photographer Emma Dodge Hanson documents her efforts. The result is an inspiring photographic account of one woman's work to improve the lives of so many.
The wells that Karen drills not only provide safe and clean water for drinking, cooking and raising fish, but allow young children to stay in school instead of traveling for miles and miles a day to a dirty pond to fetch water for their families. The generosity of our donors allows for the provision of medical and school supplies, livestock and soccer balls for young children who previously had a ball made of rags.
