Jews around the world make different kinds of haroset and families often have their own special recipes. In many Sephardic communities, silan (a syrup made from dates) with walnuts or other nuts is
used for haroset; in many Ashkenazi communities, haroset is made of chopped apples, walnuts,cinnamon,and wine; Buhkarian Jews use a similar mixture with raisins. There are all kinds of variations
of haroset, that include many other items such as dates, figs, nuts, grape juice or wine, and other variations.

We know your secret recipe is the BEST. Come on your own, with your family or a team of friends and make the audience fall in love with your haroset!

Contest Rules:
Prior registration required. Space is limited.
The team should not exceed 4 people.
This competition is open to all amateur and professional haroset-makers.
Each team is responsible for supplying all of their own ingredients, cooking devices, utensils, prep and presentation platters.
The OFJCC will provide an access to the oven/stove and electric outlet as needed and a table for presentation.
No ingredient may be pre-cooked at home. Everything will be inspected upon arrival for safety reasons.
Participants need to make a sufficient amount of haroset for the audience to taste test and vote for their favorite recipe.
Team can start the set up at 9:30am and public judging will begin at 11:30am
Teams are required to clean up their cooking and presentation areas after the contest is over.
