The Long Day Closes continues filmmaker Terence Davies' autobiographical exploration of working-class family life in northern England in the mid-1950s. Lush images give viewers a look through the imagination of Bud, the film's 11-year-old protagonist, who remains a solitary pubescent figure experiencing his first moments of homosexual desire in conflict with the weight of his Catholic guilt. 20th Anniversary!
