Folly of Youth w/ soprano Shannon Mercer
"Folly of Youth" is a program about flying high and landing hard!
Les Délices will delve into the myths of Icarus and Phaeton young men who dared to fly too close to the sun with terrible consequences. This colorful program for soprano, oboes, recorders, violins, viola da gamba, and continuo pairs French cantatas and chamber music by Jean-Baptiste Lully, François Duval, and Louis LeMaire with George Frederic Handel's own youthful cantata "Tra le fiamme" (1707) featuring soprano Shannon Mercer.
