Loving and revealing documentary about Afro-Brazilian scholar/writer/activist/politician Abdia do Nasciemento (1930 2011), a significant figure in and leader in Brazil's black movement who founded the Black Experimental Theater in 1964 and was very active in the international Pan-African Movement. He was forced into exile by the military regime but returned to Brazil in 1983 and was elected to the federal Chamber of Deputies and later to the Senate. There, his focus was supporting legislation to address racial problems in Brazil. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2004. The film traces his life, ideology and struggles through many interviews with himself as well as the people he influenced.
