Patty has spent a good portion of her career as a "featured back up diva for a variety of artists spanning several musical genres. She has recorded and toured nationally and internationally with the region's most notable veterans and newcomers including mainstream rockers, Peter Wolf (of the J. Geils Band), Brad Delp (of Boston), Face to face, Ruth Pointer (of the Pointer Sisters), to the eccentric, alt rock madness of The Bentmen, and the acoustic folk of Greg Greenway. Over the past few years along with her recording and solo efforts, Patty has been a featured soloist with Clayton Pooles Capital Jazz Orchestra. Most recently Patty went on a 15 city tour paying tribute to the ground-breaking 1938 Benny Goodman Carnegie Hall concert. Patty shared the stage with the acclaimed NYC jazz clarinetist Ken Peplowski and legendary Benny Goodman alumni, Bucky Pizzarelli and Derek Smith. This diverse exposure has gained Patty an extremely broad audience. For the upcoming Nov 6th concert Patty will bring the sum of her eclectic experience to a rare and intimate vocal evening showcasing her unique vocal presence.
La Crosse native Lynn Biddick, the muti-instrumentalist and singer- songwriter, is about to release Everybody's Blue, her 7th recording, and her second with La Crosse record label Momentous Records. Born in La Crosse, Lynn lived in Boston MA for many years after attending Berklee College. She began her career as a performer and songwriter as a busker in the streets, and in the coffeehouses in Cambridge near Harvard University. She moved to Nashville and teamed up with fellow Berklee alum Gillian Welch and formed the popular Born To Cook shows there. Mort Nasatir, former head of MCA records called Lynn a force to be reckoned with after seeing her play at The Bluebird Cafe. Her first momentous release Ghost in the Bed includes one of Gillians early songs I Dont Want To Go Downtown which she never recorded. Lynn says, Gillian liked my piano arrangement and my overall treatment of the song, and of course, I was really happy about that. Ghost was such a great experience for me. And Im so thrilled to have been able to record it right here. I'm proud of the quality of it. Music News Nashville gave us a really nice review. My song Devils Lake got airplay on Wisconsin Public Radios Simply Folk show, and also on WXPNs Blues and Beyond show out of Philadelphia. In fact, Devils Lake became a top pick of 2009 by Johnny Meister, the DJ of that show. My song Half A Moon got recorded by a Los Angeles artist Chazz Frichtel, who played bass with Michael McDonald,of Doobie Brothers fame, for most of his career.
The new album features Lynn on piano, mountain dulcimer, and harmonium, playing and singing original songs, and a few fresh arrangements of existing songs. This one has a little bit of a bluesy theme, really. Its not a blues record by any means. But there is some sadness running through it, and some frustration and maybe even a little depression! But also resilience and humor. The last several years have been hard in some ways, not only for me and my immediate sphere of people, but for friends I know all around the country. It came through in the writing, for sure. But I think overall it is an uplifting piece of work.
