SongSpace at First Unitarian Presents Música Afuerina with Emily Pinkerton and Rodrigo Invernizzi
Join us for a magical blend of sounds from North and South America!

Guitarist and composer Rodrigo Invernizzi has played with pillars of songwriting and folk music in Chile, including Hugo Moraga and Catalina Rojas, and is a longtime collaborator with the traditional culture archives at the Chilean National Library. He is also a member of several internationally recognized jazz fusion ensembles.

Emily Pinkerton's driving force as a singer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer is to build bridges across cultural divides through music. In subtle and in transformative ways, she communicates the musical diversity and the social and economic ties--both beautiful and problematic--that bind the Americas.  She has performed as a soloist at the Panama Jazz Festival and the Sala América in Santiago, Chile, and two of her CD projects have received national acclaim in the United States, each debuting among the top 10 albums on the Folk DJ Charts.

Emily and Rodrigo are founding members of Chirihue (pronounced "Chee-dee-way") an international collective of performers whose work is rooted in North and South American tradition. With members hailing from Chile, Panama, Venezuela, Peru and the United States, Chirihue builds jazz, classical and folk-infused compositions with rhythms that stretch from the southern Caribbean basin, across the Andes, and down to the heart of Chile's central valley.  Together at SongSpace, they offer a preview of Chirihue's upcoming tour of the Eastern United States, and more: the bond of deep friendship in music across the American continents.

The show will open with a short set by Pittsburgh Flamenco guitarist Jon Bañuelos.

Online sales end 12 hours before the show, tickets also available at the door night of show.
