Shaken, Not Stirred: The Early Symphony
NYBI presents, for your amusement and bemusement, a special collection of Italian musical trinkets! Set in relief against an earlier (but still Italian-influenced) composition by Muffat, NYBI's grab-bag of miniature sinfonias is a special delivery from the first half of the 18th century, a time in which such curios curiously co-existed with concerti grossi. Expect the sinfonia party to be most vigorously "shaken" by the musical machinations of the eminent Martini and Sammartini. Come one, come all, to hear these sparkling precursors to the symphony!
