The Jane Austen Evening is a formal event centered around the lifetime of Jane Austen. Costumes from the period, or formal clothing is required! Doors open at 4:00 p.m. High tea is served at 4:30. Musicians from the Philadelphia Academy of Musique will play during a portion of the tea. There is a break from 6:00 to 7:00 to set up for the ball. Dancing starts promptly at 7:00 p.m., with live music from the Philadelphia Academy of Musique. There are four sets of Regency era (and earlier) dances with short breaks between. The ball concludes at 11:00 p.m.
