SPEAKER: Mr. Mark Wilson

Mark Wilson joined GE in 1978 as Product Manager for Process Antifoulants. He progressed through the product lines to VP of Technical Marketing in 1989. In 1991 moved to Ventura, California as General Manager of Betz Enchem serving the upstream oil and gas production industry. Moved to the UK in 1994 as VP of Technical Marketing for Process Chemicals in Europe. Relocated in 1996 to Trevose, Pa as VP of Industrial Water business. Assumed the position of Global Manager for Hydrocarbon Process Industry (HPI) in 2000. He is currently the Global Marketing Director- Unconventional Gas for GE Energy - Power & Water

PRESENTATION OVERVIEW:

It is imperative that we, as a society, recover the abundant
unconventional gas reserves with methods and processes that are economically cost-effective and yet ecologically sound. The talk will address issues, challenges and potential solutions related to the procurement of water required for hydrofracturing of shale and tight sands formations, and the disposal of flowback and produced waters resulting from such operations. Specifically, we will discuss technical alternatives for managing flow back and produced water considering the economic and environmental impact of those solutions. We will also discuss major trends in the regulatory space for Unconventional Gas development.
