Cider Salon

As the unofficial clubhouse of Cider Week NYC, Jimmy's No. 43 is very excited to present a Cider Salon featuring more than a dozen cider makers, authors and experts teaching and tasting everyone's favorite fall beverage: real cider!

Confirmed guests for the day include (subject to last minute changes):

Embark Ciders will be bringing a VSC (Very Special Cask) that we'll tap and sample, alongside a talk about the cider with cider maker Jacob Lagoner
Writers and cider specialists Eric West and Chris Lehault will be moderating panels throughout the day
Murray's Cheese will provide snacks to pair with the ciders being poured throughout the Salon and Lauren McDowell, editor of Cheese Rank, will lead a cheese and cider pairing
Kevin Zielinski of EZ Orchards will head a panel and bring some of his ciders to try
Eleanor Leger of Eden Ice Ciders will be in attendance, as will Farnum Hill's Loulou Spencer
Jahil Maplestone of Descendant Cider will bring a VSC of his "Pair" (half peary/half cider) as part of the cheese and cider tasting
Aaron Burr's Andy Brennan and Wine Expert and author Alice Feiring will close out the Salon with a panel on "Natural Wine and Cider Making"

1PM Jacob Lagoner with Embark Cask Sampling will talk about cask ciders, apple varieties and the evolution of cider making in his area of NY State
2PM Cheese and Cider Sampling with Lauren McDowell (editor of Cheese Rank) and Jahil Maplestone of Descendant Cider featuring Murray's Cheese (and Descendant cask)
3PM "Wild Apples" with cider makers Steve Selin and Andy Brennan: A discussion of using foraged apples for cider recipes
4PM "The Intersection of Beer and Cider" with Josh Bernstein and Eric West featuring West Coast Ciders from "Rev" Nat West of Reverend Nat's Ciders
5PM Apple Varieties with Loulou Spencer of Farnum Hill and Kevin Zielinski of EZ Orchards
6PM Natural Wine and Cider Making with wine writer Alice Feiring and Andy Brennan
