Join us for an "A Capella Evening by the Classic Whiffenpoofs" on Sat., Oct. 24 at 5 pm at St. Columba's Episcopal Church!
Made up of 13 former Yale Whiffenpoofs, the world's oldest collegiate a capella singing group, the Classic Whiffenpoofs include alumni members drawn from the groups of 1962-66. St. Columba's own parishioner Jon McBride (1964) is a member. They have been performing together since 2011 and have been pleasing audiences all along the East Coast with their classic ensemble sound and rich renditions of traditional Yale songs and original compositions, as well as standards from every decade.
This concert will benefit the Homeless Ministries of St. Columba's: The Water Ministry, which provides a warm and welcoming environment, the opportunity to take a shower or do laundry and a hot lunch for about 40 guests on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; Rebuilding Together, which refurbishes the homes of low-income, elderly or handicapped District residents; and The Haven, which provides transitional residence and counseling for women who have been homeless.
Tickets for the concert are $35 each, and will also be sold in the St. Columba's Common on Sun., Oct. 4, 11 and 18.
