Fright Night at Willits Community Theatre - Four Short Tales
Fright Night, a seasonal selection of four short tales of horror and humor, opens at Willits Community Theatre on Friday, October 16.

From the scary and morbid to the perversely funny, the stage performances will lead audiences into an excursion of the supernatural, an escape from the zombie apocalypse, the presence of a dark talismanic spirit and one classic tale of gripping madness. The showcase includes adaptations of Edgar Allen Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart" and W.W. Jacob's "The Monkey's Paw", and two short dramas, "10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalpyse" by Don Zolidis and "Starla" by David Skeele. Director Jason Edington says Fright Night at WCT is guaranteed to leave willing patrons chuckling and cowering in their seats.

The adaptation of Poe's famed short story, The Tell-Tale Heart, hews close to the original and brings forth the narrative of a raving madman who cannot contain his perverse glee at having committed murder. In the stage version of Jacob's classic British short story, a family welcomes an old friend who is carrying a powerful talisman - a monkey's paw - that will change their lives forever. 10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse presents macabre yet humorous strategies for earth's final four human survivors to escape being eaten by the walking dead. In Starla, our final show of the evening, a theatre professor has the perfect evening planned: an intimate rehearsal in a scary abandoned theatre with a nubile coed in need of his tutelage and comfort  what could possibly go wrong?

Fright Night is not recommended for children under the age of 13.

Performances of Fright Night are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 16 and 17 at 8pm, Sunday, October 18 at 2pm, Thursday, October 22 at 7pm, Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24 at 8pm, Sunday, October 25 at 2pm, Thursday, October 29 at 7pm, and final shows on Friday and Saturday, October 30 and 31 (Halloween). Please note that our schedule is a little different than usual --we have a Sunday matinee on opening weekend.

Tickets are $10 for the Thursday and Sunday shows and $15 for the Friday and Saturday shows. Tickets are available in person at Mazahar, 38 S. Main St., Willits; online at brownpapertickets.com; or by phone 24/7 at 1-800-838-3006 FREE. Tickets will also available at the door for each performance until sold out.

The WCT playhouse is located at 37 W. Van Lane (behind Shanachie Pub).
