Intermediate III Flamenco Kids Dance Class
Saturdays, January 23 - February 27 / 11 am - 12 pm Instituto Cervantes Chicago
This intermediate class will focus on body alignment and flamenco aesthetic. There will be a warm up period moving into brazeo (arm and hand) exercises. A footwork section of the class will introduce students to basic footwork patterns and techniques. We will progress into marcajes or marking steps in which we continue to engage the body and focus attention to aesthetic quality and body shaping and we will finish the class with a choreographic exercise portion.

Flamenco is the dance of swirling skirts, castanets and breathtakingly fast heel stomping. Flamenco's musical and dance tradition is century's old, blending gypsy, Moorish and Andalusian influences. Flamenco is a solo dance characterized by hand clapping, percussive footwork and intricate hand, arm and body movements.
The Instituto Cervantes of Chicago offer tailored dance programs that cater to each individual level of discipline and training, teaching technique and conditioning of the body required for flamenco.
The Instituto Cervantes welcomes beginner students that have no dance background to the more experienced ones, whether you are taking the class for your own self-fulfillment, or would you like to consider flamenco on a more professional level.
Lily is currently combining her work as a performer with teaching classes in Chicago, and giving workshops and master classes in Spain. She currently collaborates and stages Flamenco dance productions with Soul y Duende Flamenco Company.
Classes are conducted in Spanish and English. Small class sizes up to 14 students. We reserve the right to cancel any classes not meeting minimum participants. We cannot refund for missed classes.
Class Fees Information Price: $60 / 6 hours course. Class fees are payable by check, cash or credit card before the first class of the course.
Try Before You Buy: With our Try Before You Buy program, you can try out your first class with our drop-in rate of $15. If you decide to continue classes, you'll be invoiced for the complete session. The $15 payment must be made at the Instituto Cervantes reception before the class.
What to wear: SHOES: Hard heeled shoes or boots, preferably flamenco shoes, "folklorico" shoes or boots, or character shoes. CLOTHING: Women- A long, full, flowing skirt. Men- Long pants, and flamenco or "folklorico" boots. boots.

If you refer four friends who register in one full flamenco course through the Refer-a-Friend program, you'll receive a 1 FREE FLAMENCO COURSE (6 hours). It's your choice! There is no limit on the number of friends you can refer. The more friends you refer, the more rewards you can earn.
