life's confusions, mysteries, and empty spaces?

In "Starting from the Wrong Place," Lauren Crux, with humor and deep regard offers her audience two stories exploring the rich and varied terrain of the landscape of our inner lives.
- Dinosaurs & Haircutsin which a dead, queer, commie, cabaret singer teaches us about life, love, and the fear of snakes.
- Through the Craic: (Because You Don't Go To Ireland for the Weather) a journey to the center of one's soul, complete with red faeries, doubt and dead fish.

Locally renowned guest artists Neal Hellman, Daniel Robbins, Betty Steinmetz, Sara Wilbourne and newcomer Adam Stanton, join Lauren on Saturday, March 3, for this one-night evening of story, with improvised music and dance, presented by The 418 Project and Ruddy Duck Productions.

Crux is known for her warm and witty monologues that may start out seeming like a shaggy dog story, but end with the audience recognizing and reconnecting to the things in themselves and the world that matter. Her performances are intimate, smart, funny and provocative. She applies her razor sharp use of language, vivid imagery and irreverent sense of humor to make sense of things for which often no sense can be made, leaving us laughing (and crying) at our flawed but courageous human existence.
