Evan Lanier & The Bluegrass Express In Concert
Join us Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 7:30PM as we host Ohio-based bluegrass sensation, Evan Lanier & The Bluegrass Express! Evan Lanier's life long history started at 6 years old chopping on the mandolin, playing along with Grandpa. He quickly progressed to playing the guitar, then the bass, the banjo, the fiddle, and the dobro..... pretty much any instrument that he could get his hands on. At 8 years old he stepped on stage for the first time. Now at 18 years old Evan has been on more stages than he can count and played for crowds of thousands. Evan is much sought after to sit in with other bands when they need an empty slot filled. They know that he will fill their need on any instrument perfectly.
The Bluegrass Express features the unparalleled talent of: Bob Hamblin plays Mandolin and sings tenor for the group; Larry "Bubba" Griffith keeps everyone in time with that doghouse bass and gladly takes the microphone every chance he gets; Noel Bolen plays rhythm guitar, lead vocals; and Evan Lanier on banjo and lead guitar. Evan also plays bass, mandolin, dobro, and the occasional fiddle tune thrown in as a crowd pleaser.
Together they form a tight group having fun entertaining the listeners with a mix of Traditional Bluegrass, Gospel, New Bluegrass, and whatever Evan digs up to bring something new to the show.
Evan has had the honor of sharing the stage with some bigger bands including, Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers, James King Band, Ralph Stanley II, Goldwing Express, Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers, Larry Efaw and the Bluegrass Mountaineers, Melvin Goins and Windy Mountain, Sammy Adkins and the Sandy Hook Mountain Boys, Junior Blankenship, and Kody Norris and the Watauga Mountain Boys.
