Going Deep - Exploring Trust and Connection through Acro Shibari
Join us at Bay Acro as we delve into the evolving practice of Acro Shibari in this daylong workshop offered by four highly-regarded Bay Area instructors.
The morning session will provide an introduction to Shibari (Japanese rope bondage), including foundational ties, which will then be taken into partner movement exercises designed to introduce new ways of connecting, balancing, and sharing weight. This session is beginner-friendly, but there will be new material for those who have more experience with rope and/or Acro.
The afternoon session will take things deeper into both arts - increasing the complexity of the ties and progressing the Acro practice to include elements of counter balancing and therapeutic flying.
There will be open jam time at the end of the day to practice what you have learned in a safe and supportive environment.

About the instructors:
Bondage Erotique (Kanso and Blue) have been teaching and performing the art of Shibari across the U.S. since 2012, for students ranging from absolute beginner to advanced practitioner. They approach this sensual, historical Japanese rope art with a passion for the deep connection it inspires in partners, as a means of communication, and a way to explore trust, surrender and vulnerability. They are committed to demystifying the practice of rope bondage by sharing it in fresh contexts: music festivals, art galleries, as a conscious kink, and as a collaborative body modality with AcroYoga.
Ariel and Liz began their acrobatics partnership in 2009; dare we say it was love at first flight? They have trained extensively with world renowned coaches over their years of practice together and have been teaching as part of the YogaSlackers crew since 2011. Motivated by the interplay of strength and receptivity, Ariel and Liz are known for challenging their students with new material in a way that is safe and attainable. Ariel has a Doctorate in Pharmacy and certifications in the following yoga disciplines: Ashtanga, AcroYoga, YogaSlackers, Thai Massage/Pranassage. Liz is a licensed physical therapist and is certified in the following disciplines: massage therapy, yoga therapy, and YogaSlackers.
**REFUND POLICY: Full refund before October 23rd; 50% refund between October 24th and November 13th; no refund after November 14th. Processing fees will be subtracted from refund; refunds will be issued ~2-3 weeks post event and will be handled by event organizers, not Brown Paper Tickets.
