PRESENTATION OVERVIEW:
Horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing are not new to the Oil & Gas industry. However, as they are being applied to unconventional reservoirs today, the landscape of the energy business is changing. Chesapeake Energy entered the Barnett Shale in 2004 as a non-operator and in 2005 began development as an operator. Because of the delayed entry into the horizontal development of the Barnett play, Chesapeake was able to leverage some of the experiences of its partners and of the industry to quickly become an efficient and cost effective operator in the play. Conversely, Chesapeake identified the Haynesville shale as a potential producer and drilled the initial discovery well in 2007. Since then the company has become one of the most prominent developers of unconventional oil and gas reservoirs in the industry. In this presentation the evolution of the development of unconventional reservoirs will be discussed as well as the potential impacts that this development will have on the energy landscape. In addition, some of the challenges facing the industry will be explored.
SPEAKER'S BIOGRAPHY:
As Vice President of Chesapeake Energy's Southern Division Operations, Steve Turk has managed activities in New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana, including shale projects in the Barnett, Haynesville and Eagle Ford areas. Prior to his promotion to Vice President, Steve served as District Manager of Chesapeake's Barnett district where he managed the initial development of Chesapeake's first major shale project in the United States.
Before joining Chesapeake Energy in 2006, Steve worked for Equitable Resources as Vice President of Operations and served as Vice President of Ziff Energy Group (an oil & gas management consulting firm). He began his industry career in 1978 with Cabot Oil & Gas, where he was employed for 21 years.
Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Steve graduated from Edinboro State College with a BS in Geology. He later earned a BS in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Penn State University. When his job with Cabot Oil & Gas brought him to the Oklahoma City area, he completed his MBA program at Oklahoma City University.
Steve and his wife, Karen, live in Edmond, Oklahoma and are avid runners, cyclists and golfers. When not in Edmond, they can be found at their home in Sunset Beach, NC or with grandchildren in Edinboro, PA.

Unfortunately, we have reached the maximum number of attendees for this meeting. Therefore, you will not be able to register online. We have a few additional seats and you can register at the door. We usually charge a higher price ($40) and may even have to refuse additional registrations at the door for this meeting. We only take cash at the door.
