All in the Timing by David Ives
Of All in the Timing, David Ives' award-winning revue featuring six one-act delicacies addressing uncertainty, randomness, relativity and the practical implications of the existence of black holes, Time Magazine writes: "Theatre that aerobicizes the brain and tickles the heart. Ives is a mordant comic who has put the play back in playwrighta wondrous word master." The New York Times writes, "David Ives spins hilarity out of words a master of fun."  The Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium, the Philadelphia-based theater company whose mission is to present classic absurdist theater to audiences in the Philadelphia region will present All in the Timing beginning Wednesday, October 29 through November 13 at L'Etage Cabaret, the intimate 50-seat theater above Beau Monde Creperie at 6th & Bainbridge Streets in Philadelphia.  The evening of one-act plays will feature:

Sure Thing: A classic of contemporary comedy: Two people meet in a cafe and find their way through a conversational minefield as an offstage bell interrupts their false starts, gaffes, and faux pas on the way to falling in love.

Words, Words, Words: Three chimpanzees, named after famous authors and expected to write Hamlet, for the most part waste time engaging in pointless banter, while occasionally inspired to make grandiose literary allusions.

The Universal Language: A man welcomes a naïve woman into his fraudulent language-learning course, in which he only speaks the invented language Unamunda; however, he confesses to the deception as he begins to fall in love with her.

Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread: A musical parody of minimalist composer Philip Glass.

The Philadelphia: At a restaurant, a man is informed by a friend that his frustratingly unlucky day is the result of his ensnarement in an anomalous pocket of reality, called a "Philadelphia," in which he will only be fulfilled by asking for the opposites of what he wants. By the end, the man begins to feel content at last, only for his friend to be pulled also into the Philadelphia, while the waitress groans of her own entanglement in a "Cleveland."

Variations on the Death of Trotsky: In comic fashion, revolutionary Leon Trotsky dies over and over again from a mountain-climber's axe-wound received many hours prior. Ultimately, Trotsky talks directly to his assassin who, while posing as a gardener, actually helped make some flowers in the garden grow. This sparks Trotsky to make his final philosophical statements on human life before he dies a final time.

All in the Timing will have ten performances at L'Étage Cabaret: Wednesday, October 28; Thursday, October 29; Friday, October 30; Saturday, October 31; Sunday, November 1; Tuesday, November 3; Wednesday, November 4; Saturday, November 7 and Tuesday, November 10 and Friday, November 13.  Curtain is 7:30 pm for all shows; doors open 30 minutes prior. Tickets are $20.00, and are available online at http://All inTheTiming.bpt.me.  Seating is very limited; reservations are recommended. 2015 marks The Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium's ninth season presenting challenging and rarely-produced absurdist gems from authors around the globe.  This past year, the IRC season included the critically-acclaimed, sold-out productions of Eugène Ionesco's Rhinoceros and George Bernard Shaw's Misalliance.  The IRC is a 501C3 non-profit organization, and a member of The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance.  The IRC's 2015 season is made possible in part by generous grants from Wyncote Foundation; The Samuel S. Fels Fund; The Philadelphia Cultural Fund; The Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency with support also provided by PECO and administered regionally by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance; Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia; The Charlotte Cushman Foundation and The William Penn Foundation.
