The Itals

Arena Theater proudly presents The Itals, roots reggae from Jamaica on Saturday, November 12, 2011.
DJ Jacques Dancehall Massive and DJ Northstar will provide reggae dance rhythms to open the show.
The Itals are a Grammy-nominated Jamaican vocal group known for their classic reggae harmonies and socially conscious lyrics.
Formed in 1976 by Alvin "Keith" Porter, Ronnie Davis, and Lloyd Ricketts (the latter two formerly of The Tennors), all of whom had previously also recorded as solo artists and they are one of the best known roots reggae bands on the scene with numerous hits who have continued to record and tour continuously for the last 35 years.
Their debut single, "In A Disya Time", is regarded as the group's finest work, and topped the Jamaican chart. The song remains the Itals' signature tune and has been described by Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones as "the perfect reggae track".
The Itals have performed countless concerts worldwide and although the background harmonies sometimes change, as unfortunately, some of the original members have passed, they always sound as sweet as ever, backing the original Itals lead vocalist, Keith Porter.

Tickets for the concert are $15, available online at www.arenatheater.org and at local ticket outlets: Sea Trader and Four-Eyed Frog in Gualala; Arena Market and The Pier Chowder House and Tap Room in Point Arena; Tangents in Fort Bragg.
The show starts at 8:30 PM and doors open at 8:00 PM. The Arena Theater Bar and the snack stand will be open.
