Course Description:
Adult musicians with an ability to read a lead sheet are invited to hone their skills in ensemble performance, improvisation and music literacy while networking with potential collaborators and passing a good time in a light, supportive atmosphere. We'll play from charts as well as by ear, adding 1-3 new charts per week, so the more fluent you are with reading the more you will enjoy the experience and the faster you'll progress. Under the direction of acclaimed musician-educator Khari Allen Lee (KhariAllenLee.com), this 8-week course and concert will survey music from the New Orleans diaspora. We will offer two sections to accommodate different levels of experience--a 6:45-8:00 Trad ensemble (especially for less experienced players) and an 8:15-9:30 survey course (recommended for more experience musicians and/or advanced alums). If you aren't sure what the best fit would be for you give us a call at the number below. Lead sheets for all tunes will be provided.

Participants must provide their own instruments with the exception of keyboard and drums which will be available on site, along with vocal PA and amps for guitar and bass. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you prefer to register offline call 504-942-7606 right away. Space is extremely limited and this non-audition course fills on a first-come, first-served basis. If you attempt to register and it says that your instrument of choice is sold out contact us right away to make sure we have you on our mailing list for future sessions and to put you on a contact list in case a spot opens up.

UPDATE: As of Sept. 9 spots remaining for Fall 2015 are Bass or Sousaphone, Guitar or Banjo, Brass, Woodwinds and Voice.
