Sol y Canto Duo - Founders, Rosi & Brian Amador/ Special Guest Dean Stevens
SOL Y CANTO DUO is Brian and Rosi Amador, the core of Boston's amazingly enduring Latin American music phenomenon for all ages:
~ A Latin American Holiday All-Ages Show to benefit Watertown's El Salvador Sister City Project!~
The heart and soul of Sol y Canto's music is this duo's trademark vocal harmonies, beautiful ballads and churning Latin rhythms. They describe Sol y Canto as "Latin roots music to change the world; passionate, poetic, playful and honest". Three-time winners of Boston Music Awards' "Outstanding Latin Act," Sol y Canto features founders Puerto Rican/Argentine singer Rosi Amador's crystalline vocals and New Mexican Spanish guitarist/composer Brian Amador's sumptuous Spanish guitar playing and compositions. Together, the couple performs Brian Amador's original compositions in richly diverse Latin rhythms from Puerto Rico and Cuba to Peru, Argentine and Uruguay, along with fresh arrangements of popular Latin tunes as well as fun, interactive bilingual children's songs from their Parents' Choice Award-Winning CD, "El Doble de Amigos/Twice as Many Friends". For this special holiday concert expect the Rosi, Brian and Dean to sprinkle beloved delightful Latin American holiday songs from all over Latin America and the Caribbean to their repertoire. Expect to sing along and dance along! www.solycanto.com Their newest CD, "Cada Dia un Regalo/Each Day a Gift" combines original compositions about social justice and love with several hand-selected classics from Chile, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Cuba. The overall effect is inspirational, as if Eckhart Tollethe Oprah-endorsed philosopher who advocates living in the momentjoined Nueva Canción, the 1960s and '70s pan-Latin movement that united poetry, music-making, and grassroots social consciousness. From Boston's Symphony Hall and the Kennedy Center, the Clearwater Revival, the California World Music Festival and Los Angeles' Getty Center, Sol y Canto plays for audiences of all ages, celebrating Latin culture through its exuberant music. Known for their charming introductions in English, the Amadors make this music accessible to all audiences, whether North Americans or Latinos.
