Movie: It's a Wonderful Life (1946)

Friday night only: Special appearance by Karolyn Grimes who played Zuzu in the film! She'll be in the lobby at 6:30 with memorabilia and will introduce the film at 7:30

The 1946 film is the one that legendary director and three-time Academy Award winner Frank Capra called his favorite. The movie's star, James Stewart, cited the character of George Bailey as his favorite role. Although it received five Oscar nominations, the film lost money in its initial release. It wasn't until the 1970s when it began to be aired on television during the holiday season that it started to build what has become a huge audience. In 2006, it was honored as number one among the American Film Institute's 100 Most Inspiring Movies of All Time.

The story has life-long do-gooder George despondent that an innocent mistake will land him in jail and allow an evil banker to finally take over his beloved home town. As he contemplates suicide on Christmas Eve, many of the townsfolk whom George has helped over the years pray for him. Their prayers are answered when his guardian angel arrives to show George how terrible things would have been if he had never been part of their lives.
