Assistant Directing Workshop with Kevin R. Phipps
Tired of working 18-hour shoot days?  Frustrated with watching time being wasted on set, wishing the crew could be more efficient?  Do you wish you had more time to be creative on-set so that your films could be BETTER?  Then you need to know the ins-and-outs of being a quality Assistant Director.  Come and learn from professional AD Kevin R. Phipps, in an afternoon workshop dedicated to help you manage and operate your film sets more professionally, and get a better quality result.

What is an Assistant Director?
The First Assistant Director (First or 1st AD) has overall AD responsibilities and supervises the Second AD. The "first" is directly responsible to the producer and "runs" the floor or set. The 1st AD and the unit production manager are two of the highest "below the line" technical roles in filmmaking. He or She is responsible for setting the shooting schedule, tracking daily progress against the filming production schedule, arranging logistics, preparing daily call sheets, checking the arrival of cast and crew, maintaining order on the set, rehearsing cast, and directing extras.

Filmmaker Challenges  Breakout Challenge
This workshop has been purposely timed to coordinate with the start of the Breakout Film Challenge.  IFP Phoenix has taken a lot of effort to line up a whole series of seminars and workshops specifically designed to help you create a better film over the 7-week period of this challenge.  The Assistant Directing workshop will give you skills to help start your production with the right preparation mindset.
