Sacramento Streetcar Excursion
Clean, renewable electric-powered transportation spans more than 100 years in northern California. There's no better way to simultaneously experience the past and present than on this trip, sponsored by the Western Railway Museum!

The excursion begins at the Sacramento Amtrak station, 401 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814, at 9:30 AM.  We will board the Sacramento Rapid Transit Gold Line at 9:58 AM and ride to Folsom, approximately a 50 minute ride. William Burg, a BAERA member and author of the recently published Sacramento's Streetcars will join us on the ride to Folsom to talk about his book and answer questions.

In Folsom, we'll meet Bill Anderson, the President of the Folsom, El Dorado and Sacramento Historical Railroad Association. He'll lead us on a 1/2-mile walking tour of Folsom.

We'll arrive at the historic Folsom Power House State Park, built in 1895, for a guided tour. It was the first powerhouse in the world to provide long distance electricity transmissions for commercial use, including providing the power for Sacramento's first streetcars!

After the guided tour of Folsom Power House, there will be time to enjoy the Folsom Historic District, to lunch in one of the many restaurants, to enjoy the landmarks, the great scenery, and to experience Folsom's reputation as one of the largest centers of antique trade in the west. Please note that the cost of lunch is not included in the ticket price: lunch is on your own.

Finally, we'll regroup at the light rail stop around 3:30 PM and return to downtown Sacramento around 4:20 PM, arriving back at the Sacramento Amtrak station in time for those who want to board the train back to the Bay Area.
